Steven M. Rauscher, Chief Executive Officer and President

Mr. Rauscher has been a director since 1993 and joined the Company full-time as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2000. Before joining Oscient Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Rauscher spent 18 years at Abbott Laboratories, serving in a variety of key leadership positions including Vice President for Corporate Licensing; Vice President of Business Development; Vice President of Sales U.S. Pharmaceutical Products Division; Director of Strategic Planning for Pharmaceutical Products; and General Manager Abbott West Indies. Following his time at Abbott, Mr. Rauscher served as CEO of AmericasDoctor (now Essential Group), a company that provides clinical research and marketing services to the pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Rauscher holds a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

Nick Colangelo, Esq., Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and Operations

Most recently serving as Managing Director of Lilly Ventures, Eli Lilly's $175 million venture capital fund, Mr. Colangelo joins Oscient with over a decade of pharmaceutical experience. During his strategy and business development career at Lilly, he established himself as an integral component of several cross-functional initiatives aimed at maximizing product launches and successes in the Diabetes and Growth Disorders Products group. Mr. Colangelo serves on the Board of Trustees for the National Childhood Cancer Foundation and has served as a member of the board of directors of several private healthcare companies. Mr. Colangelo began his career as a practicing attorney and is a graduate of the Duke University School of Law. He received his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Philippe M. Maitre, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

In his 25-year career, Mr. Maitre has held positions across the globe for major pharmaceutical companies including Rhone-Poulenc Rorer and Aventis (both now Sanofi-Aventis), with ten years in leadership roles in finance for U.S. public companies. At Aventis, Mr. Maitre served as Deputy CFO and Corporate Controller and earlier as Corporate Treasurer. Prior to his work at Aventis, Mr. Maitre spent several years in Asia and in Europe where he held positions of increasing responsibility at Rhone-Poulenc Group, including General Manager, Finance and Planning for Japan, Head of Corporate Financial Communications and Treasurer, Healthcare Division. Following his years at Aventis, Mr. Maitre was the CFO for PPD, Inc., a leading, publicly-traded global contract research organization. He also gained experience in the biotechnology industry as the President and CEO of Anosys, Inc., a cancer vaccine company based in California. Mr. Maitre graduated from Hautes Etudes de Commerce (HEC), a leading French Business School based in Paris.

Mark A. Glickman, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Mr. Glickman joins Oscient from Bayer Healthcare’s Diabetes Care Division, a $500 million franchise with over 500 employees, where he served as Vice President of Sales. Prior to the acquisition of Kos Pharmaceuticals by Abbott, Mr. Glickman helped build the company’s commercial organization as Vice President of Sales. Previously, as Director of Marketing, Mr. Glickman was responsible for the launch of ADVICOR the second commercial product for Kos. Prior to Kos, he was at Bristol-Myers Squibb as a cardiovascular product manager and senior product manager for PLAVIX and VANLEV, where, during his tenure, he contributed to a $400 million increase in PLAVIX revenue. Mr. Glickman also was employed by Baxter Healthcare as a sales specialist, regional sales manager and then as General Manager of Sales, for a $100 million medical and surgical supply portfolio. Mr. Glickman received his M.B.A. from New York University and a B.A. in Political Science from the State University of New York.

Inder Kaul, M.D., M.P.H., Vice President, Clinical Development, Medical and Regulatory Affairs

Dr. Kaul joins Oscient from Abt Associates Clinical Trials a division of Abt Associates Inc., a health research consulting firm, where he was most recently the Division Vice President and also held positions in medical affairs, clinical operations and business development. At Abt Associates, Dr. Kaul led the company's full-service clinical research organization and served on the company's management committee. Prior to Abt Associates, Dr. Kaul was Medical Director for International Medical Operations at Searle and served in clinical research functions at Boehringer Ingelheim and in medical services positions at Parexel International. Dr. Kaul received his medical degree in anesthesiology from the University of Kashmir in India and his Masters in Public Health from the Harvard University School of Public Health.

Diane McGuire, Vice President, Operations

Diane McGuire joined Oscient in 2002 to lead the Company's technical services and supply chain functions. As Vice President, Operations, her current responsibilities include technical services and supply chain, as well as quality control and quality assurance. Prior to joining Oscient, Ms. McGuire spent over a decade holding key positions in manufacturing (early phase through commercial), quality and supply chain for Eli Lilly & Company and Alkermes. Ms. McGuire earned her B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.

Joseph A. Pane, Vice President, Human Resources

Mr. Pane has more than 15 years of human resources management experience. For 10 years prior to joining Oscient Pharmaceuticals in 1997, Mr. Pane was a member of Medtronic Inc.'s management team, serving most recently as Director of Human Resources within the Cardiac Surgery Business Group. Previously, Mr. Pane held positions with New Balance U.S.A. and Computer Components Systems Inc. He holds a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts, a M.Ed. from Salem State College in Massachusetts and a C.A.G.S. in personnel administration from New Hampshire College.

Robert Spadafora, Esq., Vice President, Legal Affairs

Mr. Spadafora was named Vice President, Legal Affairs in 2007 and oversees and directs all aspects of Oscient’s legal strategy and legal team, including compliance, employment, licensing and intellectual property law. Mr. Spadafora joined the Company’s legal team in 1998 as a patent practitioner in the intellectual property department after having begun his career in research with Oscient’s predecessor company, Genome Therapeutics in 1995. Prior to joining Oscient, Mr. Spadafora held positions at TKT (now Shire) and CytoMed. He earned his law degree from Suffolk University Law School and his undergraduate degree cum laude from the University of Connecticut in Molecular and Cell Biology.

Christopher J.M. Taylor, Vice President, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations

Mr. Taylor joined Oscient Pharmaceuticals in 1997 and established the Company's first in-house Investor Relations and Corporate Communications department. In his tenure at Oscient Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Taylor has served as a primary interface with the investment community and has helped lead the Company's financing efforts, investor outreach and corporate news distribution. Previously, he was a Vice President at Feinstein Kean Healthcare, and worked as a Staff Writer in Shareholder Relations at The Putnam Companies. He began his career at Hill & Knowlton, working in Boston and Dallas. Mr. Taylor earned a B.S. in Public Relations from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications where he graduated with honors.

Anthony Watkins, Vice President, Corporate Development

Anthony Watkins leads Oscient's corporate development activities with a focus on further expanding the Company's product portfolio and establishing business partnerships. Mr. Watkins most recently worked as the Director of Finance and Business Development for Eli Lilly China. Prior to his role for Eli Lilly China, Mr. Watkins worked in the Corporate Finance, Investment Banking and Strategy groups for Eli Lilly at its headquarters in Indiana. During his career with Lilly, Mr. Watkins was responsible for or participated in over 50 completed discovery and technology licensing and late-stage in-licensing transactions, and directed strategic planning activities for Lilly's $3 billion endocrine business. Prior to joining Lilly in 1999, Mr. Watkins spent several years at Pfizer in a variety of strategic positions, and gained additional experience as a strategy consultant at the firm Booz Allen Hamilton. Mr. Watkins received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He also holds a Master's degree in Industrial Relations and a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
